The First Sunday of Advent.

The word that Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. In days to come the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; all the nations shall stream to it. Many peoples shall come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord!

On cloud 9

Because today he's 9!

Happy Birthday to the beautiful boy that made me a mom and has brought so much joy {and energy!} to our family.

You are an amazing gift Sam.

On your 9th birthday here are 9 things we love about you.

1. Your love for life.
2. Your wonder at nature, what God has created.
3. How protective you are of your family.{Especially your mama}
4. Your love for reading, and how you willing read to your brothers and sister.
5. Your love scripture and how you enjoy memorizing verses.
6. Your a million and 5 questions. Never lose you're sense of wonder and curiosity
7. Your fight. You have been a fighter since you came into the world as a tiny preemie.
8. Your excitement for family time. And chores!
9. Your servants heart. Oh how you take care of us.

We love you Sam.

The 'Should've Beens.'

As I reflect on this past week with family, I think about the 'should've beens.' :

- As we celebrated our baby girl, there should've been excitement for the life to come.
- As family gathered, there should've been another boy playing with our baby boy.
- I should've been prepping; buying baby clothes, getting the crib ready and washing old clothes.
- We should've been laughing at my daughter's party instead of remembering where we were five years ago.

Even in the midst of the 'should've beens...'

Jesus is enough.

Though we know it. It's often hard to feel it.

We pray for truth to give us hope.

To saturate our every thought.

And we remember.

The boy Major would have been.

The baby we long, ache and moan to meet.

We grasp and grapple to the hope of seeing them again.

Inspite of the 'should've beens.'

How is this baby girl.....

Already 4?!?!?

Happy 4th birthday, today, to the sparkle in our family.

Nora, you are an amazing blessing.
Though the youngest of our bunch here on earth, you take care of everyone.
You are a great little mama.
We look forward to watching you grow in grace and beauty in your love for Christ.

Happy birthday sweet girl.

Oh how we love you!

The Breakfast Club

Country Style

****
On a side note, this picture {taken by dad, during time with dad} is evidence of the crime committed.  The top of the hay bails is off limits for the kids.
But with dad? All for it.
My heart went to my toes when I saw this.
Offence captured.
For the first and the last time.
