Things That Don't Make Sense To Me

I REALLY enjoyed this post at the blog Days to Come. I can truly relate to her list of "Things That Don't Make Sense To Me"...

1. How having four children quadrupled the love I have for my kids instead of dividing it into four.

2. How focusing on meeting my husband's needs results in my needs getting met.

3. Why having a lot of "me" time tends to make me more self-centered, not less.

4. Why serving other people makes me more content, not less.

5. How spending time with God usually results in me accomplishing more that day, not less.

6. Why exercising gives me more energy, and not exercising makes me more tired.

7. How submitting to God's will brings freedom rather than confinement.

8. Why things that taste good often are not good for me.

9. Why having fewer things makes me enjoy them more--and vice versa.

10. How I can know all of these things are true and too often behave as though they are not.

So true...

We've had a lot of fun adventures around the ranch (and off the ranch). More pictures and good times coming soon...

The first...

...swim of the summer!

We swam at grandma and grandpa W's last week-end. The boys were more than excited to get out their floaters (despite the fact it made them look like they're training for the ATF) and head into the pool.

It's always nice to bust out the vintage toys that my brother and I played with growing up. Sam is holding "Slimer." (Yes, that is the monster from Ghost Busters....Who ya gunna call?) We called him our "green guy."

Perfecting their form...

Dad is always a trooper...

Bumper boats...(Notice Shep wanting to jump out? He hasn't gotten the memo he can't swim by himself!)

Sol was content just hanging out in all his cuteness. He will be in on the action soon enough!

Shep is all ready to go!

We had a great week-end.

Thanks grandpa and grandma!

A (late) Happy Father's Day...

to my husband, friend, and father of my little cowboys...

You are truly one of those people who was born to be a dad. You teach me so much about how to love my children. You have no problem changing a diaper, kissing an owie, or wrestling and getting muddy with your boys. I thank you for the legacy of a godly man that you are passing on to our children. I thank you for showing them through your actions and words how much you love the Lord. I thank you for teaching them how to honor their parents, by how you honor yours. I thank you for praying with and for them. I so look forward to raising our children together (and playing with grandchildren!). You are an amazing father and I praise God that he has given you to us.
Happy Father's Day Jed!

He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.

I married my best friend...

-June 15, 2001-

Thank you for 7 wonderful years and 3 amazing kids!

If ever two were one, then surely we. If ever man were loved by wife, then thee.

Park time...

With papa....
Papa Don is always such a willing soul to come with us to the park when we visit the city. Some of my greatest memories are of my grandparents taking me and my brother to the park, so I am thankful he takes the time to do it. (And the boys love it AND I can always use an extra hand with the troops.) Here are some pictures of us playing. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of me with my Starbucks (or as my cowboy calls it "The Man") half caff coffee with milk, but rest assured, it was delightful.

The funny thing about taking the crew to the park is, while they enjoy playing on the play equiptment, they would much rather run through the trees, dig in the dirt or find little animals (with the exception of Sol of course, who I'm sure will in time, but in the meantime has perfected the art of smiling and looking adorable). You can take the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the boy...how will I ever teach them the ways of the city?! :)

Thanks dad! We had a great time!

Just how'd he do it?

After reading the story of Daniel...

Mom: Daniel listened to God. It didn't matter what everyone else was doing. Daniel obeyed and God saved him.

Sam: Yes, Daniel listened to God....with his ears

Slip'en and a Slide'en

Summer is here! The boys really wanted to bust out the slip in slide today as it's so hot and humid. (Seriously yuk...and bugs? Don't get me started!) Watching the boys have so much fun outside is always worth the sweaty mess I become....and dad stopped by for a bit to help them slide:

Shep going for the next round Dad giving a light push
The underwear was slowing them down, and there's only one solution for that!
More dad!

Summer here we come!
