Finding the OK

Easter looks different. The past two Easters have been a reminder of a little boy that should be dressed in khakis, sweater vests and polos'. Major has changed our lives. Loosing him has challenged our priories and perspectives. He has helped us to look beyond the surface. And we know that is how Easter is supposed to be. {Though honestly, we'd choose to bask in the meaninglessness of eggs and dresses if it meant he would be here on earth to celebrate. }. There is great freedom in looking beyond the temporal traditions. There is also great pain. We cling now, more than ever, to the hope of the cross.

We know it's OK to smile as we decorate Easter eggs. That it is OK to participate in Easter egg hunts and dress in our Spring best...because we never forget...

...we never forget a little boy with a beautiful smile and long feet

... we never forget a baby we never got to hold...

... we never forget an uncle who would have loved to see these crazy kids running in the yard..

...we never forget a Savior whose Father poured his wrath, on his only Son. This Savior who paid the penalty for every sin on a cross so that we ,who are His children, may hope in a world better than this..

In the midst...we find the OK

"'When a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards.'"

-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe-

Dearest Kathy, beautiful note. The time for me just doesn't seem to ease the pain of this loss we feel. I was looking back at precious pictures of Easter past and there that beautiful baby boy was...decked out in Kory's first Easter outfit that was passed down with love. My heart tore again. I don't know how to go up from here. I don't know how to accept everything that has been torn apart in the past two years. It's been gut wrenching pain that is too deep for words. I do find joy in the two pretty ladies our families have been blessed with and I know through all 11 children between our three families... Major's legacy will live on..he's in the presence of yours that arms never got to hold and with my two as well! I believe they are smiling - whole, in the presence of our God...but I miss them beyond expression! I love you Kathy!! Always know that!
