To all moms...
Dear moms,
Let me get right to the point; Let's help each other out!
When we get together let's drop the facade of trying to impress and let's join together in helping to encourage each other in this amazing calling of motherhood.
Rather than worrying about how we look to one another, putting on the best outfits for play dates, having the latest toys, making the best snacks, and pretending that our child is the next Albert Einstein, let us be real, open and honest. If you have a child that is fussy, colicky, needy or just needs some extra love'en, let us ban together to help you without telling you how easy our child is or was. If you are struggling let us work together to encourage you, and share stories or advice that will help you and build you up. Let's stop and take the time to inquire how we can pray for one another. And actually care!
When we strive to be Titus 2 women, let us make sure are living it out before we open our mouths. Let's show people how to love their husbands and children by first doing it ourselves. The reality is many younger women do not know how to practically do that sometimes, but desire it with all of our hearts. I implore you older women and mothers to help us by living out the joy of working at home...un-apologetically.
God has provided all that we need in Him. A role of the Body is serving. So let us serve without jealousy or envy. Galatians 5:26 tells us not to 'become conceited, provoking and envying each other.' You see, God has given us each our own portion. Some women may have more while others less. Some families live in big houses while others are living on top of each other. (Some even live on farms!) Some mothers have children with special needs, some have children who wont sleep through the night, and some have children who listen all the time. This mothering gig, while a wonderful and awesome high calling, is h-a-r-d...hard We need other women....friends. What we don't need is to compare, tear down, try to impress or 'out-do' each other.
And lastly, lets have fun and lighten up! It is an honor and privilege to raise these kids! When we get together let's laugh...A LOT. Let's dance with our kids and roll around. When moms forget diapers, snacks, or clothes lets be the first to offer ours to them rather than making them feel lame for forgetting something. Getting together with each other should be fun and encouraging!
This season of our lives should be marked by heaps and heaps of....grace...
You are amazing moms! I thank you all for the wonderful things you teach me about being a mom and how you point me to the glorious God we serve!
Love,

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus

Wow, I'm encouraged and my mommy days are long behind me! Your thoughts apply to all of us worrying about impressions and trying to have everything together all the time instead of being real and reaching out for encouragement and support. You are SO right about the home-working mom being a hard gig - I had the chance to stay home for one year and bailed (two kids, two in diapers, too much!) - went directly back to work with my tail between my legs... Those were the pre-saved days, though; I'm sure that made it even harder.
WOW! Preach it girl!
That was uplifting, challenging, wonderful. Thank you so much for posting this--I am SO glad I have 'found' you! :-)
Let's strive to be those Titus 2 women together, shall we?!
Amen, amen and amen--it shouldn't be about pretenses, it should be about transparency. What a powerful post--thanks so much for this clarion call--
Thanks so much for your comments on Sunday Selah--it means so much to know it spoke to you--thanks for sharing your heart and the verse your are meditating on as well.
Blessings!
I completely agree. Wanna have a playdate? 6 rowdy boys, wouldn't that be fun?! :)
Would love to plop on your couch and sit in that searing, truth moment with you. His power made perfect in our weakness; not our "Christmas Card" photo families. Mommas united in our fallibility, devoted to serving our families and one another in humility and need of the redemptive love of Jesus. Thanks, kathy.
Thank you ladies..it's so great to hear from you!
T, I wish you were sitting here on my couch.:)
"His power made perfect in our weakness; not our "Christmas Card" photo families."
So true my friend...so true! Oh how we long for the comfortable rather than the sanctification!
I haven't been a mom all that long, but watching moms together sometimes is like watching pit bulls in a room...passive aggressive pit bulls... I'm not above the behavior either. We allow our insecurities to get in the way. Ohhh the freedom that our God provides from it all!
Blah..I'm done..really I am :)
You women truly inspire me!
I love this! I've always thought it was each mother's job to be encouraging to one another.
I get frustrated when I meet someone with older kids and I ask for advice, I kind of get the shrug off. It's very encouraging when I meet a mom with kids who overflows with advice and just encouragement.
I've tried to do the same thing (the encouraging part) as my friends are now adding babies to their families, because I know how frustrating it is when you get isolated from other moms.
Kathy, I love your insight! I agree with you wholeheartedly and have often found YOU as an incredible encouragement to me as a mom. Praise God for Kathy!!!
Hi Kathy, I found your blog through a comment you left on "Bring the Rain".
You have a beautiful family. And you're funny! :)
Just had to say, I'm the exact opposite of those moms who try to seem perfect. If you say your house is a mess, I come back with how I didn't wash my floor until my sock stuck to it.
If you feel like the kids haven't had your full attention, I talk about the summer my kids watched TV all day every day because I was pregnant.
I'm like the anti-super mom. I don't know if I'm trying to make other moms feel better about themselves, or if I'm just really competitive. LOL LOL
Have a fabulous day!

7 of 8 was screaming her head off--and then she heard your theme song and immediately got quiet and listened with great appreciation----
Love it when you drop by my place!
You never know--once you get to babies 7&8, maybe you'll have twins, too! ;o)
Blessings!
Kathy, I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this post. Its everything I feel and wish could happen too. Kudos to you for being brave enough to just come right out with it and to remind us of Romans 15:5 at the same time.
Its now highlighted in my Bible and I think I just might have to have it be the official verse of our playgroup too.
