you move too fast...
The Washington Post did an experiment a while back with Joshua Bell, the world’s best violin player. They put Bell in a Washington DC Metro stop to play like only the world's best violin player could. Would people stop and listen to the world’s best violin player who’s playing one of the world’s best violins?
"Each passerby had a quick choice to make, one familiar to commuters in any urban area where the occasional street performer is part of the cityscape: Do you stop and listen? Do you hurry past with a blend of guilt and irritation, aware of your cupidity but annoyed by the unbidden demand on your time and your wallet? Do you throw in a buck, just to be polite? Does your decision change if he's really bad? What if he's really good? Do you have time for beauty? Shouldn't you? What's the moral mathematics of the moment?"

Only a handful stop to listen....only a handful. THE world's best violin player...and barely anyone stops to listen.
Seriously.
The people too busy to stop and realize the beauty before them reminds me an awful lot of.......me.
(Gah! It's totally me!)
One of things that the homestead has fostered in this overstimulated city girl is sloooooowing down (which has been a process). To which I have also learned to become grateful for. I don't have the external stimuli to 'keep me going.' But I DO have an amazing Father who permits me to sit with Him everyday. How often is the world's Creator and Author of life wanting me to stop...and be still before Him? How often does He long for me as I keep going along with my day 'too busy' to stop and be amazed at the one who even allows me to commune with Him?
We have the universe's greatest Musician, if only we sat at His feet to listen....
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
